Animals suffer like we do
by Claire Wasserman
Artsy, abstract, and Cannes-winning, the Deutscher-Tierschutzbund video is not a film project, but rather a unique promotion for the animal rights organization. Translated as “The German Animal Welfare Association”, Deutscher-Tierschutzbund does not shy away from startling campaigns to jolt the public and increase awareness for their organization.
Whereas PETA uses naked women to show their disdain for fur, Deutscher-Tierschutzbund’s video (released in December 2010 by advertising agency of Frese & Wolff) depicts a graphic of a monkey laboriously morphing into a man morphing back into a monkey. The tagline is: Put yourself in a monkey’s place. Stop animal testing with us! Animals suffer like we do. Creative? Yes. Effective? You decide.
